The advantage of height allows one to really take in the grandeur of your surroundings. The Waterberg, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is a spectacular setting for the Waterberg Zipline. This platform-to-platform zipline zigzags between cliffs from where, above the ground, you soar with the birds and look down on indigenous trees, plants and wildlife.
The two- to three-hour tour includes 10 slides that range from 70 to 230 metres in length. Your guides not only have ropes and safety expertise, they are also field-guide trained to tell you about the archaeology and geology of the area, and to point out birds and interesting trees and plants.
Ziplining is for all ages but not all weights. Children from the age of five are permitted to join the tour, but adults over 120kg will be asked to sit this one out. If you find heights terrifying, there is no need to miss out. Opt for a tandem tour where you are clipped on to the guide.
Wear shoes that can't fall off your feet and comfortable clothing, and remember to leave cameras and mobile phones in the car so that they don't have the chance to fall out of your pocket!
