The Mother City (as she is fondly known throughout South Africa) continues
to pull out all the stops to ensure that visitors have unique and memorable
experiences.
Whether you’re the ultimate thrill seeker or into more genteel hikes and walks, the fun starts in the heart of the City Centre where Table Mountain invites you to walk, climb, abseil or hang-glide, with breathtaking views of Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean. Get to the top of the mountain in the Swiss-designed rotating Cable Car. Once up there viewing decks afford great photo ops.
Travelling south, north or east of the City Centre, you will encounter a unique symbiosis of cosmopolitan cool, eco and nature and contemporary African culture. South of the City Centre, Table Mountain National Park extends along the spine of Cape Town’s Peninsula, where winelands, quaint fishing villages and laid-back communities of artists and surfers thrive between mountain and sea. The False Bay Coastline, extending from the eastern shores of Gordon’s Bay to Cape Point, the most south-westerly tip of Africa, offers white-water rafting, hiking, kloofing, abseiling, shark diving and birding.
North or east of the City Centre, enjoy surf spots, kite-surfing, deep-sea angling, horse-riding, sandboarding and golfing. Add to this beachside seafood dining or local Xhosa and Cape Malay cuisine, award-winning wines and a vibrant jazz culture and you have just touched the surface of what Cape Town has to offer.
