Shongweni Game Reserve, KwaZulu Natal

Spirit of Adventure:

Spirit of Adventure is located in the Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve. This a 1700 hectare reserve situated approximately 40km from Durban. It is home to buffalo, rhino, giraffe, a variety of antelope, and in the region of 200 species of birds.

Spirit of Adventure has used this setting since 1994 to conduct leadership, personal development and team building events for students from pre-school to tertiary; and more recently corporate & private events. Lectures, and experiential learning from our broad activity base, are used in the training.

Our campsite can accommodate up to 120 learners in two, separate, 60 sleeper sites; with 4 staff beds per site. Learners are accommodated in rustic cabins each containing 2 triple bunk beds.  Staff accommodation is also in rustic cabins each containing 1 double bunk.  Learner & Staff ablutions are separate.

For all courses groups are split into teams. Each team will then fall under the professional guidance and supervision of an instructor. The instructor will make certain that every activity is done safely and enjoyably.  These activities will take place on land, on the water and on the rock face.

Spirit of Adventure activities are by nature exciting, enjoyable and adventurous.  They are carried out in the context of the Aim of the course; as such they are preceded by Leadership theory and followed by review sessions in which students discover and express for themselves the key learning points.

We tailor make your course to suit the specific group, including some of the following activities: raft building and races, abseiling, rock climbing, rap jumping, Oliver’s Travels, assault course, group dynamics and many more.
