Beyond Adventure

Beyond Adventure is the perfect gap year programme designed to bring forth the leadership ability within each and every young person who joins the programme. Based in Port Alfred, along the sunshine coast, we cater for people between the ages of 17 and 25 years of age with the full aim to take the young person on a journey bringing a holistic experience, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

The students participate in a wide range of extreme adventure activities, ranging from mountain biking, abseiling, scuba diving, sky diving and kayaking. They also participate in various workshops learning firearm handling, ballroom dancing, dinner etiquette, 4 x 4 driving skills and first aid. All the students experience what it entails to plan and execute a national adventure race from the marketing, budgeting, route planning and actual execution of the race on the day.

The students not only learn how to do certain of the activities but also learn how to present the activities to others, thereby obtaining an ARA level 2 qualification. Various subjects are presented to the students, which will add to their experience and give them more knowledge in sports event management and business skills.

The students are coached throughout the year by the facilitators who are life-coaches, taking the programme to a higher level where the students reflect on the changes taking place within them. By the end of the year, our goal is to have developed the leader within the student and catapult them into a bright, obtainable and successful future.
