Snorkelling in Umhlanga is a breeze with Umhlanga Ocean Charters! This chic holiday destination by the warm Indian Ocean is a mere 16km from central Durban and our scenic boat-based snorkelling trips are a great way to see the sights above and below the water.
Join owner-operator Zaan Grobler on a memorable snorkelling adventure. Safety is paramount and Zaan’s 15 years of experience as a qualified skipper includes 200,000 launches. Our 7.2 metre hard-nose rubber duck is well maintained and powered by two Yamaha outboard motors. We can seat 11 passengers and, due to reasons of safety, our youngest passengers need to be at least 5 years of age. After a safety briefing and allocation of life jackets, experience the excitement of a surf launch from Granny’s Pool, an area of water sheltered by two natural rock outcrops.
Our snorkelling trips offer a scenic perspective of the coast and the Umhlanga skyline, an opportunity to view a range of marine species including dolphins and whales, and an educational insight into the ocean and its inhabitants. KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast enjoys a year-round sub-tropical climate and sea temperatures range from a balmy 25°C in summer to 20°C in winter.
