Dolphin EnCountours has been facilitating in dolphin observation programmes in Mozambique since 1995 after a South African family discovered the resident dolphins in then quiet and remote seaside village of Ponta do Ouro. A longing to share the wonder of dolphins with people, as well as a profound sense of wanting to protect and learn from them has developed unique interspecies relationships, where both species seemingly benefit from the social interactions. Much care is taken when working with this dolphin society as crew regard cetaceans (dolphins and whales) as highly intelligent beings that have emotion and thus experience joy and pain.
