Oystercatcher Trail - Slackpacking

The OYSTERCATCHER TRAIL is a 4 day professionally guided, fully catered slackpacking trail where your every comfort is looked after. We transport your luggage from one luxury overnight guest house to the next one. All you carry is a small day pack. The traditional meals and hospitality will always be remembered and cherished.

This is a world renowned coastal hiking trail, rated as such by the BBC as one of the “Unforgettable Walks to do before you die!” The Getaway and other magazines and travel writers have given it many accolades.

The 4 day Trail starts at from Cape St Blaize Cave under the Lighthouse in Mossel Bay on the Garden Route to the mouth of the Gourits River. The route is along the coast where every day is different. From cliff tops to ancient caves, from long flat beaches to high dunes and rocky shores. It ends with a peaceful boat trip across the Gouritz river. Along the way you will marvel at diving dolphins, Southern right whales (in season), frolicking seals, African black oystercatchers and other shore birds. Learn about fynbos, flowers, herbs and ancient coastal stone age middens and see where the Hunter Gatherers used to live, make their tools and catch their fish in stone age traps.

The private accommodation is in luxury lodges and rustic and traditional thatched Cape cottages. This educational experience is unforgettable in the classroom of nature, where the guides will show you how man and nature can exist in harmony, side by side. At night you can marvel at the starry skies in Boggomsbaai and enjoy home cooked meals and local wines alongside our traditional large open fire places, in your cottage or at our Sandpiper centre.

THIS IS NOT JUST A WALK… IT IS A LOVE AFFAIR WITH NATURE!
