Fall head over heels for the adorable Knysna seahorse!
Snorkelling with Seahorses is a water-based adventure with a unique difference and spending time with these tiny, endearing creatures is an experience you will never forget!
Join Seablue Scuba Safaris based in the charming town of Knysna on the Garden Route and explore the delicate underwater gardens of the Knysna Lagoon, home to one of the world’s most captivating species. The Knysna or Cape seahorse is classified as a fish as they propel themselves using fins, breathe via gills and hatch from eggs. Adults grow to a length of about 12cm and are only found in a handful of estuary habitats on the southern coast of South Africa. The endangered Knysna seahorse is one of the world’s 50 or so seahorse species, however identification of these cryptic animals can be challenging as many species change colour to mimic their surroundings and as part of their courtship displays.
So let us take you on an incredible seahorse encounter! Our Snorkelling with Seahorses adventures coincide with high tides and our experienced divers know all of the best seagrass pockets where these charismatic aquatic beauties like to hang out.
