Drakensberg Canopy Tour

Drakensberg Canopy Tour is situated in the Blue Grotto valley, on the property of the Drakensberg Sun Hotel in the central Drakensberg of KZN. The environmentally sensitive manner in which the tour has been developed respects this afro-montane forest in its 10 000 year old state. The forest is home to over 150 species of birds, including the rare Bush Blackcap, which is endemic. The inspiring views of the majestic Drakensberg, the ancient indigenous forest, waterfalls and the cascading stream make this a highlight of any nature-lover’s experience.

The Drakensberg Canopy Tour consists of 12 platforms magically constructed in trees and on cliff faces, and takes you on an unforgettable adventure as you slide along a series of steel cables suspended above the forest floor. The tour starts with a safety briefing and demonstration at our reception area, after which you are kitted up with a full body harness, pulley, gloves and safety helmet. The group is then transported in an open vehicle to the start of the tour. From the moment you launch off the first platform, a new world unfolds as you slide along the cables, across to the next viewpoint. At each platform we encourage you to enjoy the view while your guide points out interesting facts and features about the surrounding ecology.
