Blackwater TubingBlackwater Tubing – the ultimate Storms River Gorge experience on the Garden Route is a five-hour river-tubing trip including river tubing/canyoning, high-rock jumps, walking and rock hopping.
Storms River’s high fern-clad gorge walls cascade down from the Tsitsikamma Mountains to meet the pool and drop black water of the Storms River. Tsitsikamma, the Khoi-San word for place of abundant waters, an area known for its majestic mountains, deep indigenous forests, fairy-tale waterfalls and wild rocky coastline is a place of infinite beauty.
What better way to experience the magic of the Tsitsikamma than by floating through this forested beauty in the deep-cut Gorge of the Storms River with blackwater tubing?
The Tubing Day starts 7 am and includes all tubing gear, guides, transport (to and from the river), river teatime, lunch and permit fees.
Please bring: lace-up/strap shoes suitable for walking through a rocky river bed, swimming costume and towel, sunscreen and cap (optional), and a sense of humour.
Please remember to ask about the water level as the Blackwater Tubing experience ranges from kloofing (low water 90% pa) to white-water tubing (high water10% pa).
Low water: ‘Paddle and rock-hop’, we paddle the pools, slip through the shallow sections and leap off rock faces up to 8 m in height approximately 60% paddling, 40% walking, water temperatures 18–25 degrees C.
