Every wildlife encounter has the potential to damage the natural environment and ecosystem of a species. The Great White Shark Protection Foundaition (GWSPF) was founded in 2002 and aims to regulate encounters with the great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) in South Africa.
The foundation promotes the preservation and conservation of great white sharks and operators offering shark diving or shark viewing follow regulations to that comply with the Marine and Coastal Management drafted Code of Conduct. These regulations ensure the safety of operators and clients as well as the preservation and protection of the great white shark in its natural environment.
