It is linked into the Aero Club of South Africa as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of South Africa. BAFSA is the organiser of the annual South African Hot Air Balloon Championships which takes place in May in the Eastern Free State town of Bethlehem. BAFSA encourages contact with all aviators and interested parties and provides information on training and training organisations.
