| African Paddling Association (APA)
African Paddling Association (APA) was formed in 1988 to represent the commercial paddling industry in Southern Africa – guides, operators and other interested parties. Membership is voluntary and all members sign a code of conduct relating to good practice in terms of safety and environmental impact. Members are subject to a disciplinary procedure in the case of complaints. The APA’s main functions are to oversee the training and certification of paddling guides and their swiftwater qualification is internationally benchmarked through the International Rafting Federation (IRF). In addition, they make recommendations regarding safety and good practice and liaise between the industry and the various stakeholders in government, conservation organisations, etc.

A voluntary independent non-political non-governmental body, which provides a service to the Outdoor Recreation and Outdoor Learning Industry without profit. Its objective is to advance the education of the public in and through professional outdoor learning programmes for personal and social development opportunities.

Balloon & Airship Federation of South Africa (BAFSA)
The official representative body for all balloonists in South Africa. It is linked into the Aero Club of South Africa as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of South Africa. BAFSA is the organiser of the annual South African Hot Air Balloon Championships which takes place in May in the Eastern Free State town of Bethlehem. BAFSA encourages contact with all aviators and interested parties and provides information on training and training organisations.

SAHPA aims to promote, protect and administer free flying in South Africa. SAHPA ensures self-regulation and provides a safety-oriented licensing system, which allows for minimum standards of competency. SAHPA is the only entity that can issue hang gliding, paragliding or powered paragliding licences which are internationally recognised and accepted through Aero Club and FAI affiliation.

The African Sea Kayak Society (TASKS)
TASKS is a sponsored forum for all sea paddlers in Africa and elsewhere. Interested persons can register online as friends of the society at no cost at all. Both recreational as well as commercial members can use the forum to raise opinions, ask questions, advertise events and promote their services. The society promotes goodwill amongst all paddlers and consults in respect of safety, training and guide training.

The Horse Society of Gauteng (THS)
The governing body of competitive Equestrian Sport in its region for the disciplines of Dressage, Driving, Equitation, Eventing, Showing, Showjumping and Vaulting. Previously known as the Transvaal Horse Society, THS falls under the South African National Equestrian Federation (SANEF), which formulates the rules and codes of practice for competitors and officials. SANEF, in turn, falls under the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), which governs the sport internationally.
