Eastern Cape & Wild Coast Adventures
Eastern Cape & Wild CoastTravellers who find their way to the Eastern Cape are rewarded with the very best South Africa has to offer. Only a province so rich in contrasts could offer custom-made adventure trips for every interest. From scuba diving to snow skiing, water sport to whale watching, there’s something for everyone, all the time. Explore eco-trails on foot, mountain bike or horseback, in a 4x4 or canoe. Take a big five (add the gentle giants of the ocean and make it big seven) game viewing in malaria-free reserves. Also for the adventurous, the Eastern Cape offers the highest bungee jumping (217 metres) from the Bloukrans Bridge. See our world from a different perspective – take a Tree Top Canopy Tour or plumb the ocean’s depths in diving gear. Plunge into our colourful past or meet the warm-hearted locals who are our future.
You are always welcome.
Enter an adventurer’s paradise, if you dare! Enter the Eastern Cape via the Sunshine Coast, the Karoo Heartland or the Wild Coast. The Blaauwkrans Bridge on the Storms River offers a breathtaking 180 m of freefall at 193 kmph. Or enjoy surfing, diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, jet skiing, sailing and deep-sea fishing at Jeffries Bay, Kennaways, Victoria Bay, Cape St Francis, Nahoon Reef, Gonubie Point, Yellowsands and the Fence. The diversity of landscapes and biomes results in mountains, forests, waterfalls, grasslands, estuaries, dams and lakes. A malaria- and bilharziafree zone, the game and nature reserves are where you can see the Big Seven: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo, Great White shark and Southern Right whale. The Tsitsikamma forests, Baviaanskloof Wilderness, Valley of Desolation, Wild Coast and Amatola Mountains offer 4x4 trips, hiking, walking, biking and horseback trails, as well as canoeing, rafting and kayaking, power boating, yachting, rock climbing, abseiling, quad biking, sky diving, microlighting and skiing. Backpacking establishments of a very high standard are plentiful.
