A disjointed and ineffective team can have a negative impact on the prosperity of a business or organization. That is where Teambuilding comes in – a fun, positive and stimulating way to assist employers, managers, coaches and parents get the nuts and bolts of their teams back on track!

In the 1920’s, the Hawthorne Studies which looked at the relationship between productivity and work conditions in a Chicago factory gave rise to the concept of team building in the workplace. Team building techniques in business and sporting organizations were only really put into practice in the 1990’s and, since then, the team building industry has skyrocketed!

So, what is team building? A ‘team’ is a group of people working together towards a common goal and, ideally, each member plays an active part in achieving success. If the team is not functioning optimally, the end result may be low performance and even failure - a demoralizing and time-wasting outcome for all involved. The purpose of team building is to improve social relations, build fruitful workplace relationships, define roles, and diagnose and resolve problems. This involves the team or group participating in a specially designed team-oriented activity such as an outdoor adventure experience. Improving communication, motivation, and gratification within the team have a direct bearing on an increase in performance and productivity.

Problems within a team may stand out, but quite often issues are not easily deciphered until they are identified through team building. An experience with a team building organization can help break down the barriers and transform ‘ordinary’ into ‘out of the ordinary’!
