Chubeka Trails’ scenic Klipspringer Trail is an essential for horse riding enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. This 4 day, 3 night horse trail takes riders on a fun, exhilarating adventure up hill and down dale with wildlife viewing opportunities, camping out and fire-side bush dinners under the stars.

Day 1:
Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Rest Camp – Arrive at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Rest Camp in the afternoon. Book into accommodation and explore the self-guided walking trails in the late afternoon, or opt for a 1-hour horse ride to meet our well-trained horses.

Day 2:
Klipspringer Camp – After a leisurely breakfast at the Hippo Haunt restaurant, riders’ overnight bags (small, soft bags if possible) are handed in at reception to go with the supply vehicle. We depart on the horses between 10 and 11 am, depending on experience level. Climb infamous Nyonyane Mountain and enjoy a short hike to the ‘Rock of Execution’ summit for snacks and glorious views of the valley. Cross over the adventurous Usushwana River and onto Mlilwane North and the campsite for this evening - canvas bell tents, pit latrines and tree showers in the deep river valley. Enjoy hearty campfire catering under the stars.

Day 3:
Klipspringer Camp – Savour an early breakfast around the campfire before packing the saddlebags with lunch and climbing out of the valley onto the highveld ridges of Mlilwane North. Appreciate spectacular views across Swaziland to Mozambique from the highveld. Cross into a rural, Swazi community for fun, spontaneous encounters with our neighbours before heading back to our camping spot.

Day 4:
Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Rest Camp – After breakfast, we follow the Usushwana River through riverine forest, with the option of climbing up Mantenga viewpoint for a final elevated view. We ride through Mpumalanga Plains past the Roan Antelope Breeding Project, returning to the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Rest Camp around 2 pm. Refresh in Manzane, our natural warm spring.
