2008

Day 1
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you are met by our representative from Paradise Touring who will hand over your documents. The Private Guide transfers you to Kleinboshewel Guest House where you stay for the next six nights. (Superior Room)

Cape Town Introduction
Cape Town is one of the most beautifully situated cities in the world. Cradled by Table Mountain, it has immense charm and historical interest whilst its unique cultural blend; part African, part European and part Asian, makes for a cosmopolitan dining experience. Take the cable car or walk up Table Mountain, visit the colourful Malay quarter or meander through the wonderful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Browse through the vibrant Greenmarket Square, take a boat trip to Robben Island or simply relax on the beach. When you want to range further, the Cape Peninsula offers one of the finest coastal drives in Africa to the Cape of Good Hope. Here you might see whales breeching just off the bay or quirky jackass penguins on Boulder’s beach.

Klein Bosheuwel Guest House
Large airy sitting rooms, loggias and library areas packed with interesting books and furnished with traditional old South African pieces welcome visitors to the Cape of Good Hope. The two and a half acres of ground with towering old Oaks, Planes, Cinnamon Camphor’s, Chestnuts and Silver Trees provide tranquil shady refuges during the hot summer days. At each end of the property there are salt-water swimming pools surrounded by lawns, rose gardens, indigenous proteas, restios and South African Aloes, blend together along the interesting garden paths. The two properties comprise two Guest Houses, a Cottage with two bedrooms, and the owners' separate dwelling. Klein Bosheuwel is within a two-minute walk of the world famous Kirstenbosh Botanical Gardens.

Day 3
Today you enjoy a cycle tour with Daytrippers through Cape Point and the Peninsula.

Where do the two oceans meet? And why is it called "the Cape of Good Hope"? Join us on a journey of discovery as we explore the splendour of the Cape Peninsula in Cape Town. We follow the Atlantic Seaboard, past Clifton & Camps Bay, to the fishing hamlet of Hout Bay for an optional boat cruise to Duiker Island to experience thousands of Cape Fur Seals in their natural habitat (R35). We continue along the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive to Simon's Town to meet up with a colony of rare Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach (own account).

You would've noticed the bicycles behind the bus by now! Once inside the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, we swap four wheels for two to get some fresh air into our lungs and to build up a healthy appetite.

Our legendary scrumptious picnic lunch will then be served somewhere in the reserve... maybe at one of the stunning beaches! Are you brave enough to challenge the Atlantic?
After lunch we hike to the top lighthouse at Cape Point and then to the Cape of Good Hope. Both hikes offer breathtaking vistas and REAL fresh air! We return home via Scarborough and Kommetjie. The trip includes entrances and picnic lunch.

You will need:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Shorts or trousers
- A sweater/windbreaker
- Sunscreen (For summer time... SPF 30+)
- Bathing costume. (Should the weather allow it, we will have lunch at one of the beaches and swimming might be possible!)

Day 5
Today you drive to the town of Hermanus for your 2 hour Whale Watching Boat Trip with Southern Right Charters Company.

The experience of boat-based whale watching in Hermanus, Heart of the South African Whale Coast. The Southern Right Whale is a baleen whale, which means that instead of teeth it has long plates hanging from the top jaw. These baleens work like a sieve when the whale feeds. The Southern Right Whale was so named during the time when they were still hunted. They were referred to as the "right" whales to kill because they would float when dead – which made it easy for the whalers to find them in the ocean and transport them back to the whaling station. These whales have a large amount of oil (also called blubber) and baleen. www.southernrightcharters.co.za
Basis: Breakfast

Day 6

Today you enjoy a 2 hour Kite Surfing lesson with Cabrinha KiteBoarding Company. Basic and advanced tuition in Kite Surfing.

These are the basic techniques in kitesurfing. Once you've mastered them, invent your own moves and tell me about them; the sky is the limit.

Learning to kitesurf is actually easier than learning to windsurf. However, the learning curve is much steeper. For example, one of the first kitesurfing moves you need to learn is water starting, which is a rather advanced technique in windsurfing.
Reviewing another kitesurfer's learning log will actually make learning kitesurfing easier as you can avoid all the frustrations and all the silly mistakes. www.cabrinha.co.za
