The sun sets, the fire crackles and the stars ignite the sky as you fall asleep to a cricket’s lullaby. It is the end of a perfect day of River Rafting on the mighty Orange River. The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, the journey continues through breathtaking Richtersveld scenery.
The summer rainfall of the Drakensberg Mountains is the starting point of the Orange River. From its source, the river flows westward and forms the border between the Free State and Northern Cape. From here the river flows through the arid wilderness of the southern Kalahari region and plummets down the impressive Augrabies Falls. Next, the Orange forms the international border between South Africa and Namibia.
Here, your River Rafting adventure takes place. The waters are finally deposited into the cold Atlantic Ocean at Alexander Bay.
Paddling on the Orange is a great mixture of gently-flowing water where you have time to enjoy the spectacular scenery and fun rapids that provides the challenge of dodging boulders and picking the right course through the rocky outcrops.
Many people return year after year to their favourite stretch of the river. After your River Rafting adventure you will see why. Time on the mighty Orange gives you unforgettable memories and leaves you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
